Abstract:

The refractive indices and linear electro-optic properties of relaxor ferroelectric crystal 0.93Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3-0.07PbTiO3 in the rhombohedral phase were investigated at room temperature using the 632.8 nm He-Ne laser.The two principal refractive indices were measured by the Brewster′s angle method:no=2.466,ne=2.488.The linear electro-optic coefficients were determined using the modified Mach-Zehnder interferometer method to be r33=71 pm/V,r13=4 pm/V.The effective E-O coefficient and half-wave voltage were also calculated:rc=67 pm/V and Vπ=610 V.The excellent E-O properties show that the PZN-0.07PT single crystal has potential application in the field of laser modulation and deflection field.
