All-optical Clock Recovery from NRZ Data Based on Semiconductor Optical Amplifier
|
Abstract:
A scheme of all-optical clock recovery has presented based on a semiconductor optical amplifier(SOA) followed by a fiber grating filter and an actively mode-locked fiber ring laser with gain medium SOA.The clock recovery configuration consists of two parts. One is SOA followed by optical filter, which aim is to convert non-return-to-zero(NRZ) format to pseudo-return-to-zero(PRZ) format. The other is actively mode-locked fiber ring laser based on SOA,which is used to extract the signal clock of the converted PRZ signal. The all-optical clock recovery of NRZ signal with PRBS modulated at 10Gb/s is experimentally demonstrated. The operation principle and experimental results are discussed and analyzed. The experiments show that this scheme has many advantages such as simple structure, easy controlling and good output characters.
