Study on LNN Nonlinear Planar Optical Waveguide by Transfer Matrix Method

Abstract:
Propagation properties of TM mode in planar optical waveguide with linear cladding and nonlinear core and substrate are numerically analyzed by transfer matrix method. The study mainly involves in the electric field distributions and optical power on effective index in planar waveguide. The mode eigenvalue equation of TM and expression of laser power are presented, and the effect of nonlinear coefficient on electric fields of TM is investigated. The numerical calculation results show that the electric field distribution and optical power depend strongly on effective index and nonlinear coefficient.
