The principles of noise and sensitivity calculation for typical optical coherence tomography systems are summarized and discussed.Side by side comparisons of SNR performances are presented for both balanced and unbalanced detection schemes under the ideal no-stray light situation and the non-ideal situation.The corresponding formulas are also given,which shall be proved useful for the development of OCT systems.
