Effect of Erase Light on Opto-electronic Responses of Spatial Light Modulators Incorporating Ferroelectric Liquid Crystals
|
Abstract:
To enlarge the application of circuit into studying opto-electric responses of the spatial light modulator,an equivalant circuit model is presented, which is based on the optically addressed spatial light modulator incorporating ferroelectric liquid crystals and using metal Al as the reflector. And the effect of erase-light on opto-electric responses is studied. The simulation results indicate that the information-erasing velocity is quickened by injecting erase-light,the critical erase-light intensity is 10 mW/cm2 when frame speed is 2.2 kHz and write-light intensity is 10 mW/cm2.Also injecting erase-light can effectively restrain the unexpected output-light power and adjust the response velocity.Comparing to the case of null erase-light,injecting 1 mW/cm2 erase-light decreases the unexpected output-light power by 77% and slows down the response velocity by 9%.Erase-light can be used in switching and gray-scale modulation if the height of Schottky barrier is well-designed,and an example of gray-scale modulation realized by erase-light is given. And the simulation results from the model have shown good agreement with the reported experimental results in both magnitude and tendency.
