Study on the Dynamic Characteristics of a Novel DWDM Filter

Abstract:
Dynamic tunability is investigated for a novel DWDM filter based on analog birefringent waveplate structure.When the polarization rotation angle of the polarization rotator in each analog waveplate is given,the optical path difference in each analog waveplate is adjusted through displacing each wedge-shaped medium plate and center frequency tunability and bandwidth variability can be accomplished easily by satisfying a certain relation of the optical path difference.When the optical path difference is small,the center frequency can be realized,and the variation of bandwidth is small enough to be neglected.With the incessant increase of the optical path difference,the variation of bandwidth becomes bigger and can not to be neglected.
