ANALYSIS OF CORROSION INDUCED CRACKING FOR A CONTROL ROD OF ELEVATOR TAB FOR A WATER-PLANE
|
Abstract:
Cracks on a control rod of the elevator tab for a water plane were analyzed by scanning electron miroscopy(SEM) and metallurgical microscope. It is believed that cracks were induced by corrosion, and the volume effect of corrosion products was the stress source of cracking. The critical radius R scc for stress corrosion cracking to initiation on the LY12CZ rod was calculated. The corrosion and cracking of this rod can be avoided through sealing the relevant clearance properly by assembling.
