PITTING CORROSION AND ITS INHIBITION OF REBAR IN ALKALINE SOLUTION CONTAINING CHLORIDE IONS STUDIED BY SCANNING REFERENCE ELECTRODE TECHNIQUE
|
Abstract:
Pitting corrosion and the effect of inhibitors on rebar repassivation in alkaline solution with chloride ions were studied by scanning reference electrode technique. It was showed that no matter that chloride ions was present or not, there were always some micropitting nuclei on the passive film and they were unstable and always in a dynamic state. In alkaline solution, chloride ions were necessary for promoting pitting development. Among the inhibitors used in the experiment, only sodium nitrite was able to inhibit macropitting corrosion.
