INFLUENCE OF TENSILE STRESS ON EXFOLIATION CORROSION AND ELECTROCHEMICAL IMPEDANCE SPECTROSCOPY OF 7075Al - ALLOY
|
Abstract:
The effect of tensile stress on exfoliation corrosion of a two-step over-aged 7075 Al alloy was investigated, and the Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) of 7075 Al alloy in EXCO solution was studied. The result showed that tensile stress could accelerate the initiation and development of exfoliation corrosion. At the beginning of immersion, the EIS was comprised of a capacitive arc at high-mediate frequencies and an inductive arc at mediate-low frequencies. Once exfoliation occurred, two capacitive arcs appeared in the EIS at high-mediate frequencies and mediate-low frequencies respectively.
