BURST OF STEAM PIPELINE CAUSED BY HYDROGEN ATTACK AND PREVENTION MEASURES

Burst of steam pipeline in an oil field was analysized. Corrosion was found on the inner surface of the cracked pipe.There are decarburizition and intergranular cracks in the steel matrix. High hydrogen content was measured in the corroded steel matrix. It is concluded that hydrogen attack caused the burst of pipeline steam.
