ANTIRUST BEHAVIOR OF ALUMINUM TRIPHOSPHATE IN WATER-BORNE LATEX COATING
|
Abstract:
The antirust action of aluminum triphosphate in water borne latex coating was analyzed by electrochemical measurements including current time curve, dynamic potentiostatic polarization curve and corrosion potential. The results indicated that aluminum triphosphate,as an anode like inhibitor, raised anodic polarization degree and played an obvious role in suppression of anodic corrosion, which may probably be due to blocking of the electrode surface;the inhibition effect of aluminum triphosphate increased appreciably with time because of its permeation and reaction in the coating;in the tested paint, aluminum triphosphate showed better anticorrosion performance than zinc chromate which was thought to be an efficient pigment.
