EFFECTS OF ION IMPLANTATION OF Cr, Mo AND Al ON CREVICE CORROSION BEHAVIOUR OF CARBON STEEL
|
Abstract:
The effects of ion implantation of Cr, Mo and Al on crevice corrosion behaviour of carbon steel in sea water have been investigated by means of electrochemical technique. Test results show that the surface modification of carbon steel by mixing implantation with Cr and Mo can greatly decrease the crevice corrosion rate, and improve both the repassivatance potential E R and the resistance of crevice corrosion resistance. The result is superior to only implanting with Cr. The surface modification by ion implanted with Al can decrease the E R. It is detrimental to crevice corrosion resistance.
