CORROSION BEHAVIOR OF ALUMINIZED CARBON STEEL IN HIGH- TEMPERATURE PURIFICATORY NAPHTHENIC ACID MEDIUM
|
Abstract:
The corrosion behavior of pack-aluminized carbon steel in high-temperature purificatory naphthenic acid medium was investigated. The influence of the aluminized layer on the naphthenic acid corrosion resistance of carbon steel was evaluated. The results revealed that the aluminized carbon steel exhibited an excellent corrosion resistance in the initial stage. However, with prolonging corrosion time, the corrosion resistance of the aluminized carbon steel was deteriorated rapidly and the aluminized layer was gradually scaled off in a form of step, which was attributed to the instability of the oxide scale on the coating surface and the aluminide layer in the high-temperature naphthenic acid medium.
