ELECTROCHEMICAL STUDIES ON CARBON STEEL CORROSION INDUCED BY MIXED COLONIES
|
Abstract:
The influence of mixed colonies composed of Micrococcus and sulfate-reducing bacteria(SRB) on corrosion behavior of 45 # carbon steel was studied using open circuit potential, polarization curve and AC-impedance.The results indicated that (1) Under the limited growth, the competitive growing relation of Micrococcus and SRB was obvious, and when Micrococcus existed, the rapid growth of SRB was inhibited very much;(2) In the presence of mixed colonies, corrosion rate of 45 # carbon steel was reduced remarkably and (3) A new method was offered to prevent MIC efficiently.
