MEASUREMENT OF DEGREE OF CURE OF FBE COATINGS SOLVENT EXTRACTION METHOD

The performance of Fusion\|Bonded epoxy (FBE) coatings is dependent on cure and is only achieved when the coating is fully crosslinked. However, there has been a lack of perfect methods to measure the degree of cure of coatings. One measurement is carried out by a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) . This study examined the validity of this test method. Moreover, a new method using solvent extraction had been set up. The solvent extraction technique was used to investigate the degree of cure (DOC)of organic coatings. The process to determine the extraction conditions and relative parameters has been described. The measured results have been compared with those measured by differential scanning calorimeter.
