CORROSION OF HEAT-AFFECTED ZONE IN WELDMENT OF DUPLEX STAINLESS STEEL SAF2205 IN UREA MEDIA
|
Abstract:
The corrosion resistance of the heat-affected zone (HAZ) of butt-weld for duplex stainless steel SAF2205 and austenitic stainless steel 316L in urea media were studied. Experimental results revealed that welding linear energy (WLE) has important influence on the corrosion resistance of HAZ. A severe corrosion zone appeared at a distance of 3-6mm from melt run. The depth of local attack increased as increasing WLE. The corrosion of HAZ in the SAF2205 was found to be more susceptible to WLE that in 316L.
