ELECTROCHEMICAL CORROSION BEHAVIOUR OF VARIOUS Ni COATING/CARBON STEEL BILAYER IN OXYGEN FREE WATER AT HIGH TEMPERATURES
|
Abstract:
The electrochemical corrosion behaviour of electroless amorphous Ni P coating/carbon steel substrate and electro deposited nanocrystalline Ni coating/carbon steel substrate were studied by linear polarization, potentiostatic curve and AC impendance techniques in oxygen free water at high temperatures. Results showed that the corrosion of the functional Ni coating/carbon steel composite materials was caused by hydrogen depolarization under galvanic couple condition. Their corrosion rates depended on the porosity and the intrinsic corrosion rate of the coating.
