ELECTROCHEMICAL BEHAVIOR AND INHIBITION PERFORMANCE OF INHIBITOR IMC-871-G IN C02 SATURATED SOLUTION
|
Abstract:
Electrochemical behavior and inhibition performance of the inhibitor IMC 871 G in simulation water saturated with CO 2 or at high partial pressure of CO 2 were investigated in an autoclave by using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and potentiodynamic polarization technique. The results showed that the inhibitor had an effective protection against the corrosion caused by CO 2 for N\|80 steel. With increasing inhibitor concentration, the anodic process of corrosion was retarded effectively by adsorption of inhibitor molecule on the electrode's surface and corrosion potential shifts to the positive direction, which demonstrates that the inhibitor is an anodic adsorption type. The adsorption behavior of inhibitor followed the Langmuir isotherm. At higher concentration, the phenomena of desorption of inhibitor was detected when electrodes were polarized anodicaly.
