FAILURE ANALYSIS OF STAINLESS STEEL BELLOWS USED IN POWER STATION
|
Abstract:
The failure analysis of the 304 stainless steel bellows that being used in a power station has been conducted by using optical microscope and scanning electron microscope(SEM).The results showed that the cracking originated from the innerside of the bellows; The cracks of the bellows propagated circuitously and axially with the typical transgranullar stress corrosion cracking features; The cracking was induced by the chlorides in vapor; Both working stress and residual stress due to cold working were responsible for the cracking.
