EVALUATION OF CORROSION RESISTANCE OF RARE EARTH METAL (REM) CONVERSION FILMS ONLY12 ALLOY WITH CYCLIC ANODIC POLARIZATION CURVES

Abstract:
A new method for studying corrosion resistance of conversion films was developed with cyclic anodic polarization curves in this paper. Technological process of rare earth metal (REM) conversion films on LY12 alloy was introduced. The corrosion resistance of REM conversion films was examined by salt solution immersion test and cyclic anodic polarization curves. The results obtained from cyclic anodic polarization curves could be consistent with the result of salt solution immersion test when the appositive area of cyclic anodic polarization curves was used to evaluate the corrosion resistance of the conversion films.
