ON THE FRAGILITY OF CLIMATOSTRATIGRAPHIC CLASSIFICATION AND NOMENCLATURE
|
Abstract:
The argumentation of the doctrine of Quaternary glaciation from eastern China has been carried on for 65 years. In view of negativity of Quaternary glaciation from eastern China, the author suggests; (l) not to use climatostratigraphic classification for Quaternary system in eastern China, (2) to use the term of diamictite instead of till in lithostratigraphic units,(3) Geographic names should be derived from permanent natural or artifical features which the stratigraphic unit is present. A unit should not be named from the source of its components.
