The anticorrosion performance of metal with organic coatings depends on the transportation of corrosive substance through the coating.The transportation of water and ions in coatings is introduced.The study on the permeation of water and ions in coatings is reviewed.The factors affecting the process of permeation is discussed,and some electrochemical and spectroscopical means for the inspection of the permeation process of corrosive substances were also summarized.
