CORROSION BY ACTIVE SULFUR SPECIES IN PETROLEUM REFINERIES
|
Abstract:
Although crude oil consists predominantly of non corrosive hydrocarbons, it contains varing amounts of potentially corrosive impurities ,among them sulfur compounds cause serous corrosion problem in petroleum refineries. In this paper, the main existing forms of the sulfur compunds in crude oils, the derivafire produts of them in refininery processes and corrosivity of active sulfur species, were analysed and disscussed. The realistic necessity of systematic investigation and developmet of online monioring/detecting techniques for further understanding to sulfur corrosion was emphasized.
