OEOLOOICAL ENVIRONMENT OF LOESS AT LUOCHAN YUAN, NORTHERN SHAANXI PROVINCE, CHINA

The term "YUAN" is a Geomorphologic form in the loess region refered to a flat highland cut by deep valleys. It represents a primary plateau surface of the loess deposits. The here described Luochuan Yuan is located at the Luochuan county, northern Shaanxi provmce. The geological deposition of Luochuan consists of Pliocenered clay and Pleistocene loess accuniulations, The eroded Pliocene Hipparion red clay forms a paleobasement for the deposition of the Pleistocene loess.
