CLAY MINERALS IN LOESS OF CHINA AND THEIR TENDENCY IN LOESS SECTION
|
Abstract:
Samples taken from Luochuan and Longxi loess sections were examined by the X-ray powder diffraction technique, and some of them with an electronmicroscope. The results show that clay minerals in loess and paleosol of different ages are mainly composed of illite, kaolinite and montmorillonite. In some samples small amounts of vermiculte, halloysite and interstratified minerals are found.
