QUATERNARY STRATIGRAPHY OF MARINE-CONTINENTAL TRANSITIONAL FACIES IN EAST CHINA

The strat igraphy of Quaternary transgressions in East China are mainly marine-continental transitional sediments rather than marine ones. According to the data of 36 drillings on the coast plains, the marine-continental transitional sediments are in thickness 2.38 times that of the marine sediment. These two facies triaybe easily distinguished accnching to micropaleontlogical criteria provided by the results . of micropaleontological analyses of huridreds of surface, samples, taken from, different depositional environments, ianging :from . peen seas, river mouths and guefs, lagoons, littoral zones, fresh-water .and saline lakesa, from Liaodons Peninsula in the North to the Hainan Island, in the South. Moreover, different. estuaries, littoral and lagoonal tacies are recogniz can be identitcid by the withinthe transitional stratrgrapluial tacies.
