Traditional Chinese agricultural heritage is one of the few cultural heritages that is continuously passed on for almost ten thousand years. Because of its long history of development, there must be many internal mechanisms that let them survive after many natural and social changes. Industrial agriculture is a revolution from traditional agriculture. Sustainable eco-agriculture is a revolution from industrial agriculture. This double revolution makes many experiences from traditional agriculture borrowed for our future agriculture. However, traditional agriculture is quickly disappearing because of the wide use of industrial methods and its inadaptability to the changing world. The agricultural production system in the 1950s to the late 1970s also accelerated the loss of traditional experiences. In that system, the leaders of production brigade mainly directed the activities of agricultural production. The old brigade leaders, old technicians, and farmers in remote areas may still hold the valuable experiences. It is worthwhile for us to investigate. Traditional technology can also be found in ancient agricultural literatures and local chronicles. The valuable experience in traditional agriculture should be collected, sorted, and screened for its effectiveness. Mechanisms for those with good effects should be searched for. Then, those methods showing good effects can be modified and gradually be applied to different areas. It will be able to promote the development of sustainable eco-agriculture in China.
