Abstract:
Electromagnetic scattering characteristics of ground vegetation in a half-space model are studied. Instead of free space Green's functions used in previous literatures, half-space Green's functions are applied here to solve the scattered fields of a single scatter. The Monte-Carlo method is employed to generate the vegetation over the ground in order to obtain the electromagnetic scattering characteristics of the ground vegetation. Backscattering and bistatic radar cross sections are also calculated. Comparing with the scattered fields obtained by free space Green's functions, it shows that the scattered fields obtained by half-space Green's functions are more suitable to describe the electromagnetic scattering characteristics of the ground vegetation.
