Analysis of typical events of coronal holes against formation of solar energetic particles
|
Abstract:
By comparing and analyzing the solar and interplanetary data of two typical fast halo Coronal Mass Ejections(CMEs),we have found that the event far away from Coronal Holes(CHs) caused a great Solar Energetic Particle(SEP) event, but the event very close to CHs did not cause a major SEP event. This result reveals that coronal holes may suppress the production of SEPs.Then by investigating all fast halo CMEs close to CHs from 1997 to 2003,it is found that none of the CMEs produced a major SEP event when the surface distance between the CME and coronal holes is less than 0.2R-s.The result further proves that the CHs may have effects against the CME producing SEPs.The reasons why CHs affect CMEs in SEP acceleration are briefly addressed finally.
