A study on the effect of depressed topography on Rayleigh surface wave
|
Abstract:
Using the local discrete wave-number method we study the effect of topography on Raleigh surface wave produced by a explosion source near the surface. Firstly we analyze the propagation character of Rayleigh surface wave in the course of passing topography, compare the changes of its energy and frequency before and after passing topography. Then,we discuss the relation between the change and topographical steepness. It can been seen that the Rayleigh wave produces new scattering body wave during passing the topography with energy reducing and high frequency vanishing. Moreover, the steeper the topography is, the more energy reduces and the more frequency vanishes.
