ACOUSTIC FIELD IN FORMATION GENERATED BY LINEAR PHASED ARRAY TRANSMITTERS IN FLUID-FILLED BOREHOLES
|
Abstract:
Acoustic field in formation generated by linear phased array transmitters in fluid-filled boreholes, as well as the method to intensify the acoustic energy radiated from the source in the borehole to the formation, is investigated using the finite element method (FEM). The direction of the radiated energy to the formation generated by the source in the borehole can be steered by means of adjusting the parameters of the linear phased array transmitter, which can result in obviously intensified radiated energy of the compressional wave in certain direction in the formation. Therefore, the depth and resolution of investigation and signal-to-noise ratio of the received signal can be improved by employing linear phased array transmitters in the area of crosswell seismic survey and the new rising borehole acoustic reflection imaging.
