ALGORITHMS FOR COMPUTING ULTRA-HIGH-DEGREE DISTURBING GEOPOTENTIAL ELEMENTS
|
Abstract:
The fast development of the modern spatial gravimetric technology makes it possible and more necessary to establish ultra-high-degree global geopotential models. We study the numerical characters of the ultra-high-degree fully normalized associated Legendre functions (ALFs) and their 1 st and 2nd derivatives of the disturbing geopential spherical harmonic expansions from the standard forword column recursions. Then the above-mentioned standard forward column methods are modified. Finally, some applied algorithms for evaluating the ultra-high-degree disturbing potential elements by personal computer are presented, which avoids digital overflow.
