INFLUENCES OF PHENOMENOLOGICAL MODIFICATION OF BIOT THEORY ON CHARACTERISTICS OF S-WAVE
|
Abstract:
Propagation characteristics of S-wave are studied through one-dimensional S-wave equation after complex modulus is introduced into the Biot equation. Numeric analysis of S-wave shows that thermal relaxation attenuation peak and Biot attenuation peak appear in both frequency domain and temperature domain. Temperature changes cause relative shift of the two peaks in frequency domain, and frequency changes cause relative shift in temperature domain. As temperature and frequency increase continuously, the two peaks will overlap each other, then they change their position. It means that thermal relaxation peak in low-frequency area or low-temperature area moves to the high-region, while Biot peak in high-frequency or high-temperature region moves to low-frequency or low-temperature area. Difference between attenuation mechanisms of the two peaks causes the complexity of changing pattern of S-wave velocity with increasing frequency or temperature. These rules have been partially testified by resonance tests. So it is confirmed that the theoretical model has experimental foundations.
