THE KARYOTYPES OF TRIONYX STEINDACHNERI

The karyotypes of T. steindachneri were studied from bone marrow cells by the colchicine-hypotonic-air drying technique with Giemsa staining.The karyotype of T, steindachneri consists of 66 chromosomes. The fundamental chromosome number (N F) are 60. They may be classified into four groups; 4 pairs are submetacentric, 4 pairs subtelocentric, 7 pairs telocentric and 11 pairs micro-chromosome. The Karyotype of T,steindachneri and T.sinensis are similar.
