THE HYDROCHEMICAL CHANGE OF TARIM RIVER ANDITS CONTROL WAY
|
Abstract:
As a problem of the degredation of ecotope in the arid areas of inland, the salinization of water quality is as serious as the desertification and salinization of soil. Before 1958, Tarim River was a freshwater river with the general minieralization rate lower than 1 g/1. The mineralization rate 'began to ascend since the sixties. The water quality worsened in the seventies and futher aggravated in the eighties. Now, the annual freshwater periods of Tarim River are only three months in a year, (the mineralization rate lower than 1 g/1), and other three months are filled with slight salt water, (1-3 g/1), whereas, the salt water occupies the six months, (the mineralization rate higher than 3 g/1). The hydrochemical change of Tarim River is mainly caused by the artificial activities that change the equilibrium relations between water salt and water quantity. Therefore, we should pay attention to the balance between water salt and water quantity while exploiting and utilizing the resources in arid land.
