RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN POLLEN AND PLANT OF THE ABIES FARGESII FOREST AND ITS SUCCESSION IN THE SHENNONGJIA MOUNTAIN
|
Abstract:
For the porpose of studying the relationship between Abies pollen rain and its plant, surface samples were picked up from inside and outside of the Abies fragesii forest in the Shennonjia Mt., named Dashennongjia. Pollen percentages, R-values and pollen infux were estimated. The results of analysis show that, inside the forest, the quantity of the Abies pollen is comparable to the density of the plant, while outside the forest, the pollen falls down rapi-dly to 10% at 1 km from the forest, less than 5% at 2 kms and only very few beyond 10 kms. The dispersal patterns of Abies, Picea and Pinus are disfferent. Pollen samples for analysis of Abies vegetation history were collected from a soil profile in the Abies forest. The pollen percentages at each level are corrected by using the R-values, worked out from the surface samples. And the pollen influx were estimated. The pollen dia-.grams reveals that the Abies forest was developed from Quercus-Betula forest, which was about 300-400 years ago.
