CONCHOSTRACANS AND SPORES OF UPPER DEVONIAN HUANGJIADENG FORMATION IN HUBEI PROVINCE
|
Abstract:
This paper describes Conchostracans and Spores from the Late Devonian Huangjiadeng Formation in Majinggang, Luoyuanshan, Changyang district, Hubei Province. The Conchostracan assemblage includes 3 genera, 2 subgenera and 6 species (All species being newly erected) as follows:Palaeolimnadia changyangensis Liu (sp. nov.)P. louyanshanensis Liu (sp. nov.)P. atava Liu (sp. nov.)Palaeolimnadiopsis changyangensis Liu (sp. nov.)Ulugkemia (Ulugkemia) changyangensis Liu (sp. nov.)Ulugkemia (Tjulbaria) hubeiensis Liu (sp. nov.)Two genera, Palaeolimnadia and Palaeolimnadiopsis, are known to be of world wide distriction, and range from Devonian to Cretaceous in age. Genus Ulugkemia was first found in the Middle Devonian (Givetian Stage)of U. S. S. R.The Spore assemblage contains 23 genera and 37 species, including 6 new species and 6 new combination. This assemblage is characterized by the development of Samarisporites concinnus, S. triangulatus, Apiculiretusispora granulata, Verruciretusispora magnifica magnifica, Geminospora regularis, Grandispora eximius, G. krestovinikovii, G. medius, G. mesodevonicus, Discernis-porifes micromanifestus, Hymenozonotriletes turbinatus, Perotriletes aculeatus, Ancyrospora melvilensis and Hystricosporites devonicus etc. This assemblage may be roughly correlated with the Frasnian spores of Canada, Spitsbergen, U. S. S. R. and North American.Associated with the present Conchostracans and Spores are typical Late Devonian plants such as Leptopkloeum rhombicum Dawson and Cyclostigma kiltorkense Haughton.
