Geochemical Prognosis of Large-size Silver Ore Districts in Inner Mongolia
|
Abstract:
Silver ore districts were predicted on the basis of geochemical provinces delineated by two datasets of 1:200000 and 1:1000000 geochemical data in Inner Mongolia. 40 silver geochemical provinces (each one has an area of over 1000 km2) were delineated in the whole territory of Inner Mongolia. 3 of 4 large-size silver ore deposits are hosted by the geochemical provinces, and 10 of 11 middle-size silver deposits are hosted by geochemical provinces or regional anomalies. This fact indicates that there exists good correlation between large-size and middle-size ore deposits and geochemical provinces. Geochemical provinces can therefore be applied to the prognosis of potential large-size ore deposits. 31 Ag anomalies are associated with elements of Pb, Zn, Cu, with anomalous contrast higher than 1.5. Potential silver reserves were calculated by using the areal metal productivity model and the geochemical block model.
