FUSULINIDS FROM THE LOWER UPPER CARBONIFEROUS HUANGLONG FORMATION IN GUANGDONG
|
Abstract:
The present paper deals with fossil Fusulinids collected from the Huanglong formation in Guangdong. The Huanglong formation consists mainly of light grey, massive limestone, containing rich Fusulinids. It is underlain by poorly fossiliferous dolomite of the Dapu formation and overlain by greyish limestone of the Chuanshan formation containing Triticites. The Fusulinids described and figured in this paper comprise 14 genera and 51 species and subspecies (as shown in Table 1), of which 7 species are new. As a result of the biostratigraphic study of this fusulinid fauna the following zonation of the Huanglong formation is proposed by the writer.2. Zone of Fusulinella-Fusulina3). Subzone of Fusulina quasicylindrica 2). Subzone of Beedeina pseudonytrica 1). Subzone of Fusulinella ellipsoides1. Zone of Eofusulina-ProfusulinellaA tentative correlation of this zonation is made with that of Southern Jiangsu, Western Guizhou, the Taizihe Valley of Liaoning in China, the Hida Massif of Japan and the Russian Platform of U.
