Studies on the Features of the Structural Deformationsin the Western Tianshan Orogenic Belt
|
Abstract:
The western Tianshan orogenic belt consists of the napping strike slipping system in the north margin of the Yili central Tianshan and the north Tianshan (MCNT), in the south margin of the Yili central Tianshan and the south Tianshan (MCST) and the Yili block between them. The MCNT includes the north Tianshan napping belt, the overthrusting zone in the north margin of the Yili central Tianshan and the North Central Tianshan fault zone. The MCST includes the overthrusting zone in the south margin of the Yili central Tianshan, the accretionary napping sheet in the north slope of the south Tianshan, the Early Paleozoic passive continental margin napping sheet in the north slope of the south Tianshan, the Late Paleozoic oceanic volcanic flysch composite napping sheet in the south slope of the south Tianshan, the South Central Tianshan fault zone and the South Tianshan fault zone. Based on the regional tectonics and deformational structures, it could be confirmed that the napping tectonics of the western Tianshan orogenic belt might be predominantly established in the early time of Early Permian and the strike slip movement might occur during Late Permian through Early Triassic. Successive napping and strike slip movement may happen along the Paleozoic tectonics during Meso Cenozoic times.
