UPPER ORDOVICIAN(ASHGILL) TRILOBITES FROM THE LINXIANG FORMATION OF WESTERN HUNAN AND EASTERN GUIZHOU
|
Abstract:
The meterials described in this paper were collected from a series of light yellow-green argillaceous or light grey nodular limestone about 1.5 m in thickness, exposed at Dayong of western Hunan and Songtao of eastern Guizhou. Among them one genus and seven species are new, including Madygenia exsculpta (sp. nov.), Madygenia tuberculata (sp. nov.), Dayongia brevica (gen. & sp. nov.), Dayongia longicephala (gen. & sp. nov.), Eobronteus hunanensis (sp. nov.), Shumardia songtaoensis (sp. nov.), Encrinurella exsculpta (sp. nov.). In comparison with related forms this faunule not onJy shows eastern Asiatic aspects but also strong European affinities. After a critical analysis, the authors are inclined to assign this faunule to Ashgill in age.
