A Stud y on Regional Structure Stress Fields of Mesozoic-Cenozoic Era in Qing River Basin,West of Hubei
|
Abstract:
On the basis of analysis of regional structure outline and structure evolution sequence, regionalstructure stress fields of Mesozoic-Cenozoic era in Qing River basin were divided in to the major Yan-shanian,the major Himalayan and present structure stress fields.Stress directions of these stress fieldswere determined from striation measurment on fault planes, analysis of conjugate joints and mi-crostructures near faults, mechanism analysis of earthquak e focus and information of in situ stressmesurement. Also the differentical stress was estimated by use of the criterion on rock fracturing,cal-cite twin lamellae and dislocation density in deformed mineral. Then, according to the results of finiteelement modelling,a discussion was made on the basic characters and the evolution process of Meso-zoic-Cenozoic era regional stress fields, which provides the basis for assessing the crustal stability of the area.
