The Origin of the Cu-Ni-PGE Orebody in Yangliuping, Sichuan Province, and the Significance of Its the Discovery
|
Abstract:
Most of the Cu Ni PGE deposits are hosted within basic ultrabasic magmatic bodies and originally related to magmatic differentiation and crystallization. Hydrothermal solution evolved from magmatism or directly from mantle usually enriches the disseminated ores originated from magmatic mineralization by superimposition. However, in the Yangliuping area, Sichuan Province, besides the orebodies hosted within basic ultrabasic magmatic bodies, there also exist independent Cu Ni PGE orebodies, which were formed by hydrothermal replacement and hosted within limestone and shale instead of within magmatic rocks. The ores from these orebodies have been mined and smelted because of their high grades of copper and nickel. This paper describes the general geology and origin of the enriched Cu Ni PGE orebodies in Yangliuping, whose significance lies in the fact that such kinds of independent hydrothermal orebodies have not been reported in China.
