A DISCUSSION ON RELATION OF EARTH MOTION WITH GEOLOGICAL AND NATURA HAZARD SYSTEM
|
Abstract:
The analysis of various data has shown that the surrounding layers of the earth, such as the lithosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere and biosphere, have entered a new stage of activeness. It may be expected that natural disasters will be intensified, thus giving a fierce challenge to mankind. To ensu- re the construction of the Four Modernizations, we should attach greater importance to the study of them so as to work out precautionary and remedial measures.Neither geological nor other natural disasters are isolated phenomena, and instead, they are associated with each other to form a unified system. The system is controlled by earth motion and affected by solar and other celestial activities. Therefore various kinds of natural hazards may take place in series with internal relations, and be concentrated in a certain period. Their cyclicity is approximate to each other, and moreover, roughly consistent with that of the rotational speed of the earth and other celeotial movements.Based on the study of movement and change of each surrounding sphere of the earth, the author has come to the following conclusions. l)The fourth cold stage of the modern small glacial age will last until 1995 or even until 2045, and because of the green-house effect, the climate will become more changeable and deteriorated. 2) The beginning of the 21st century will be the time when the rotation of the earth speeds up. 3) The sea level will remain high during the period from 1980 to 2000. 4) Seismicity has been more active since 1985, and it is inferred that it will become most intensive and frequent during 1990-2000. In short, from now on until the beginning of the next century, the earth will keep active and consequently will suffer more geological and other natural hazards. So it is highly important for geologists to study the law of geological and natural disasters system, and predict and prevent the hazards.
