NON-MARINE MOLLUSCA FROM GUANZHUANG FORMATION IN PINGYI COUNTY, SHANDONG PROVINCE
|
Abstract:
The non-marine mollusca dealt with in the present paper were collected by the author and others in 1981 from the second member of Guanzhuang Formation in Pngyi County of Shandong Province. The collection comprises 15 species in 12 genera, including 1 new genus, 4 new species and 1 new subspecies as listed below: Lioplax compta (sp. nov.), Hydrobia bianqiaoensis (sp. nov.), Pingyispira delicata (gen. et sp. nov.), Pingyispira vesca (gen. et sp. nov.)and Physa exquisita bianqiaoensis (subsp. nov.). This molluscan fauna is dominated by aquatic species and the most of them are seen in the second member of Guanzhuang Formation in Mengyin County and Wutu Formation in Changle County, so the author believes that the sedimentary enviroment of the molluscan fossil-bearing beds represents the non-marine facies, and these beds and those of the second member of Guanzhuang Formation in Monyin County and Wutu Formation in Changle County are probably the same in stratigraphical sequence and their geological age belongs to the Eocene, most probably lower Eocene.
