Evolutionary Series of Dinosaur Eggs and Environmental Changes in Southwestern Henan-Northwestern Hubei
|
Abstract:
In Late Mesozoic there developed a series of NW-SE trending tectonic basins on the southern limb of anticlines of the Qinling Mountains. They were located in Xixia-Neixiang and Xichuan of Henan Province and Yunxian of Hubei Province. From north to south they were Sangping-Xiaguan basin, Xiping-Chimei basin, Taohe Basin in Xichuan and Yunxian-Yunxi basin. Based on the stratigraphic distribution regularity of fossil eggs in the southwestern Henan-northwestern Hubei area, this paper reveals that the Cretaceous basins in the southern area of the Funiu Mountain were formed from north to south in succession, and that the basement of the basins became gradually younger in the steplike form southwards.
