Applications of Geosciences in the Comprehensive Studies on Natural Disasters
|
Abstract:
The occurrence, development, spatial and temporal distribution of each kind of disaster are not isolated but related each other to form an uniform system of natural disasters, which is a part of whole earth system. The study Of earth systematic sciences is based on and developed by the geoscience, so the geoscience can play an important role in comprehensive studies on natural disasters. It has been demonstrated that: 1) the forming mechanism and geographic distribution of natural disasters were greatly controlled by the crust movement, geologic activities, structure styles, and 2) the situation of earth's surface can control the processes of occurrence, activities and energy release of disasters. So it can be concluded that the study on geologic conditions, which is related to the disaster's forming, is the base of comprehensive studies on natural disasters, also is the base to develop comprehensive forecast of disasters.
