Quantitative Characteristics of the Microstructure of Pisha-sandstone
|
Abstract:
Using optical micrography and image-analysis technique, the authors chose eight samples of Pisha-sandstone from a borehole to study the quantitative characteristics of their microstructure. With the multi-linear regression method, the correlation between physical mechanical properties and microstructural parameters was made to determine the effect of each microstructural element on the mechanical properties. The results show that the compressive and draught strength of Pisha-sandstone is closely related to the sizes, shapes, distribution and arrangements of is grains as well as the pore distribution. Generally speaking, the smaller the sizes and the distribution and orientation fractal dimension of the grains, the higher the mechanical properties of Pisha-sandstone.
