New findings of Middle Paleozoic Agnatha and Fishes from Kalpin, Xinjiang
|
Abstract:
Two new sorts of galeaspids,Nanjiangaspis zhangi sp.nov.and Hanyangaspis sp.,discovered in Silurian Tataertag Formation of Kalpin in northwestern Tarim Basin of Xinjiang, are described in this paper. The former is characteristized by transverse eclipse-shaped median dorsal opening,7 pairs of transverse branches of lateral dorsal canals and 2 pairs of median dorsal commissures, and tuberculate ornaments, whereas the latter is similar to the type species in its anterior ventral plate and its tesserae ornament, but shows slight difference in the shape of its anterior ventral plate.Besides,an anterior ventral lateral plate belonging to Arthrodira is also reported in this paper, which is found in the Kezirtag Formation and represents the first report of arthrodire fishes in the Tarim basin.
