Numerical Simulation of Scavenging and Acidification in Cumulus Clouds
|
Abstract:
A 1-D time-dependent and parameterized cumulus model, combined with continuity equations of pollutants, is used to calculate concentrations of SO2 inside and outside cumulus, spatial and temporal distribution of S(VI) concentration in cloudwater, oxidation rates of H2O2 and O3, S(VI) concentration in rainwater at the surface. Based on the model calculated results, the importance of various factors such as the nucleation scavenging, aqueous oxidation, subcloud scavengiing of aerosols, basic aerosols, entrainment and SO2 initial distribution is discussed.
